On August 29, 2009 Cypress Village was awarded Organic Certification from the USDA. This has helped to market CV produce at the local farmers market as well as Everbody's Grocery and a Revelations Restaurant.
Home grown organic crops this year included alfalfa, rye, straw, tomatoes, sweet corn, buttercup squash, pumpkins and strawberries.
On Monday, June 21, Iowa’s first LEED™ Platinum-certified home will be awarded a certification plaque by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Located at 33 Pecan Street in Cypress Villages, Robert Smistik's new home was over a year in the making.
